Genetically Modified Food (GM food)
The improvement of foods and planting has for centuries been performed by cross breading the best characteristics of plants and other base food products. Now with the ability of scientist to alter the characteristics of food, directly at genetic level, plants and animals can be altered in their genetic make up in an effort to make the base food more productive, pest and disease resistant. Yet, the debate of the ethical and safety of genetically modified foods is still a hot topic and substantial argument about the safety and concerns of GM foods exist on both sides of the argument.
